Get the F* 300mm or DA* 300mm?

I'm totally confused now. Which lens should I be getting? I know the DA* 300mm will only be out in September, but man, I'm afraid of the F* 300mm depreciating fast if I were to try and sell it down the road...

Yes, I treat my lenses as an investment, so does anyone have any advice? Live with my DA 50-200mm + 1.7x combo and wait for the DA* 300mm or get the F*300?

If you want an investment, go for the F*. It'll be much more valuable (because it's out of producton), plus it supports film bodies and has an aperture ring.

Sure, the DA* is nice, but IMHO none of those lenses will replace the A/F/FA* classics.

Well said. Yup, if you can find some of the older versions in your price range, go for it.

I'm sticking with my F*300.. Its a classic lens and hopefully it will hold its value, maybe not quiet at the insane level it is at today, but at least above what it cost me...

Of course if weather resistance is a faeture you require than the DA*300 obvioulsy wins out.. I am going to get the DA*200 for that purpose..
