Sigma lenses with OS for Pentax?

Hi,

Is there a list of (legacy now) Sigma lenses that do feature OS functionality for Pentax?

Any tips/points on using these with Pentax bodies, other than just turning off the Pentax SR. Aiming to use in video and seem to recal you have to hold the shutter button down or somethig odd like that to enable it?

Thanks.

The 17-70 2.8-4 HSM (not the Contemporary), 18-50 2.8-4.5, 18-250 (2009 version), 50-200 HSM, 70-200 HSM (not HSM II), 120-400, 150-500, & 50-500...The 17-50? There is one review in the database that says it's stabilized (older version?), the current version is not stabilized...

IBS vs in lens.

My Sigma 150-500 has an on-off switch for in lens located on the lens. Just turn off in body and turn on in lens. Never leave both on as they don't play well together, I learned by doing.

Yeah guessing non of the Contemporary versions will include this.

Didn’t realise the 17-70 2.8-4 HSM version included real lens OS for Pentax. That one was on my watch list... 🤔

Why worry? The newer cameras all have the improved 5 axis SR so unless you are primarily doing the moving object thing like BIF and sports with setting 2, it seems that Sigma's stabilization is not really needed. YMMV though.

Be aware that there is a version of the 120-400 that does not have OS.

Because Pentax no longer uses that great SR during video, and any remaining 3rd party lens providers don’t include it now, (quite rightly because they assume Pentax should be able to handle this in house).

I’m heading to Hong Kong briefly soon, and might be in a position to hunt for an older Sigma with useable Pentax OS, so keen to get a feel for what would work.

They are very hard to come by. For example, the 17-50mm was initially produced with OS, then they took it out, without changing the lens name.

Note that there may be some compatibility issues, so unless you want the OS for video, I'd stick to in body.

There is also a version of the 150-500 that does not have OS. But unlike the shorter lenses where OS was removed I'm pretty sure on the long lenses it was added later...

I have the 120-400 non OS version of the Sigma. Great lens and sharp. However, getting past 250mm the SR for Pentax isn't very good.
