In NO way am I qualified to offer a proper review of ANY lens, but from my personal use of the four, F-series lenses I own, they've all produce exceptional images. I have the F 35-70mm, F 35-105mm, F 35-135mm & the F 70-210mm. The 35-70mm is an amazing lens, producing some very sharp, 3-dimensional images. The 70-210mm has excellent resolution and the images it produces will withstand a lot of cropping. The first time I used this lens, the AF scared the heck out of me! Violent.... and FAST!

The F35-135 doesn't get a lot of love. I bought and sold one for $50, not a whole lot more than an M135/3.5. Maybe like me, it's hard to find a reason for the focal length. I couldn't find any performance issues.

5 years of sourcing. A couple are a little beat up externally but all work well.

The 50 f/1.4 I found at an estate sale. They had it marked $75 but I walked out with it for $50 because no one there had ever heard of Pentax.

I own the F*300 and the F100 2.8 macro. They are my favourite lens.

I've owned a F28mm and the F50 f1.7. The 50 was pretty good but the AF on that copy was picky on my camera.

The F28mm though... holy smokes! I still kind of regret selling that lens. It's probably one of the best ones out there. At the time I was picking between the 31mm and the F28 so naturally the 31mm edged it out (but it was still close!). In hindsight even though the focal lengths are similar the 28mm had sharpness and character. Again the 28mm is one of the best out there.

I would love to give the 28mm a run on my K-1.

The F70-210 keeps suprising me from time to time. It is very reliable in terms of af and sharpnes. Bokeh is fine too. A lens hood works wonders to get good contrast with it. It is also lightweight.
Overall it is a very fine lens, especially considering it is quite cheap. Downsides are build quality and mf, which works but does feel loosly.
I also had the oportunity to use a F50/1.7. A very nice alround lens!

I have a 35-80 and 80-200 here, both headed for eBay with their camera, a Z-50P. They're older F series lenses without the jazzy paint job.
The 35-80 in particular is very underrated in the UK, they go for around £10, and there's usually two or three for sale. My copy is really sharp, colours nice, autofocus is, as you say, on the loud and savage side, but very good and quick. They have an odd feel to them, they feel like there is play and slap in the mechanism, but the images don't show this.
Only going to sell as the focal lengths on crop sensors are odd, and it makes sense to move them with a camera from the same era, as it's headed that way anyway.

I've owned a few in my time. The 35-135 on a pz-1 was my main walkabout. It suffered from very poor edge sharpness and flare resistance wasn't something it knew much about. However it was compact and center sharpness was good enough. The F 100 macro was stunning. The F 50 1.7 was/is a workhorse. The 35-135 developed Haze and I sold it cheaply. The f 100 had element separation that had very little effect optically but I sold it when I got my DFA 100 Macro.

I just bought the 35-135. I have only played with it a little bit, but the AF is FAST and VIOLENT! It acts like the camera thinks the focus throw is longer than it actually is, and it rams hard into both ends.

As far as the focal length, I can find plenty of reasons for it. On crop it is not wide enough, but on FF it would cover most of my shots.

I have a number of Pentax lenses from all of the different series, but for some unknown reason only one from the F series. It is the 28mm f2.8. It is one of my favorite lenses. It focuses lightning quick and is tack sharp to the edges from f2.8. Contrast and color rendition are second to none, IMHO. Even though I have the FA 31 f1.8 Ltd, which is close in focal length, and just a little bit faster, and a Limited, I don't see myself ever parting with this little gem.

Excellent sharpness, but nothing I wouldn't expect from the F 70-210mm. Ugly as sin, more of a farm impliment than a piece of photographic gear.... but boy oh boy, does it perform!
