Same focal length, but two different lenses. Really depends what you need.

The 100/2.8 is a lovely, compact, fast, short tele. Great for candid portraits outside, allowing you to get in close without
disrupting the action.

The 100/4 is a macro, so it's strength is in closeup photography. I own the M100/4, but admit it usually takes a back
seat to either the Vivitar 90/2.5 or the SMC-A 50/2.8. The 100/4 is perhaps most ideal for handheld macro in full sun,
where the lightweight is of full advantage and the slower aperture is not a disadvantage.

if you mean by macro, the ability for 1:1 then the lens family to look for is the SMC 100mm F2.8 macros

That said. There are many different lenses that are 100mm f2.8. What specific one did you find? Any Pentax 100mm f2.8 macro is fine. But be aware there are several Pentax 100mm f2.8 lenses that aren’t macro lenses. Be sure you aren’t mixing up the models.

The M series 100 f4 is a fine macro. Read here about it: SMC Pentax-M 100mm F4 Macro Reviews - M Prime Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database the lens does up to half life size which can be augmented by using a Raynox or similar APO close up lens.

The M series 100 f2.8 is a great lens but has no macro capability natively, but you can add tubes or lenses like the Raynox dcr k. -150 or similar.

Honestly if you want macro the f4 one is a good choice.
