Are we sure they're actually new and not refurbs? Like the batch of 28 EX's that were sold about a year ago? I bought one and it looks perfect, cosmetically, and I would never have guessed it was a refurb item.

It does seem odd, but they claim it is a new batch. (From Steve's link) "By the way, these new Sigma 50-500 millimeters are already corrected and its structure does not touch the housing of the Pentax K-1 and K-1 Mark II , as it happened with the units produced before 2016."
I saw that and was puzzled again since I don't remember the 50-500 being one of the lenses that suffered from clearance problems on the K-1.

Steve

From the Sigma website list of affected lenses:
Current Line-Up
  • SIGMA 30mm F1.4 DC HSM| Art
  • SIGMA 35mm F1.4 DG HSM| Art
  • SIGMA APO 50-500mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM
By the way, I just got my 150-500 back from Sigma with the K1 firmware update and housing update.
No charge at all. I have to say that is great support for a discontinued product.

My experience with a Siggy 50-500mm and with both the first and second versions of the Tammy 150~600mm indicate the latter are significantly better, but then they are maybe 20 or 25 years more advanced design.
I wonder whether Jun Hirakawa was involved in the development of the Tamron 150-600? Maybe a romantic idea, but it would complete the circle if some of his Tamron lenses were made available in K-mount.
