Sigma 17-35mm f2.8-4 EX Aspherical on K-1

The reviews available online are either very good or plain terrible.
Most of them are quite dated, and based on either film or old sensors.
On this site, the EX Aspherical version gets better votes than the newer EX DG model, which should be definitely better!
Many of the complaints I found regarded softness wide open and vignetting on FF, which are probably still there using a K-1, but other problems originally reported by reviewers could have been due to inexperience or to the characteristics of old sensors.
For example fringing should be less noticeable, due to the thinner sensor stack of the K-1 (no AA).
Problematic focusing and lack of sharpness could have been due to the need of AF adjustment in PDAF mode, or even the need for re-chipping/firmware update.
This is why I'm asking if anybody is using the old version of the Sigma 17-35mm on the K-1, or a mirrorless Sony with a recent FF sensor.
I'm curious about the performance using LiveView, or with properly adjusted AF. It would be interesting to know if any lens has been sent to Sigma for repair, and came back showing better performance.

I have found this to be a problem with a lot of the old UWA zooms.
We have newbies gushing over a new toy and giving a 10 and newbies expecting the sky or mis-use and giving a 1.
Then we have those who expect great edge sharpness at wide open, or giving a "1" for a lens that was damaged on arrival.
Hard to tell what the level of the photographer was as well which can give a weightage to what is being rated.

From my own experiences with a lot of the old UWA (having rather good access to many of them because the community here is small and get together often enough to try some of the lenses), I'd say that the best bet nowadays is just get a cheap Samyang 14/2.8.
If willing to pay more for better build quality, then its the Irix 15, Laow 12, DFA 15-30

Since you're not getting any replies about the K1, I'll share my experience on Film.
That Sigma lens gives a lot of bang for the buck. Sharp image, stopped down a bit, nice contrast, good color for a Sigma of that vintage.
One look at the results of what a friend shot with hers and I sold my Pentax FAJ version and bought the Sigma. Both APS-C cameras.
On Film it was still a great lens. At 17 f2,8 there were times it had some Light Fall Off, not much and as mentioned above because of the angle it wasn't tack sharp at the corners. I used it for 10 years or better before I sold it.
It's BIG and dwarfed my ist D, was ok on K10 and K20.
I'm not a newbie so I won't rate it a 10, Nice glass and a solid performer.
