Thanks Barry. Really appreciate your support for Pentax rentals. You are the only outfit I have found so far that rents Pentax. My first experience with you was excellent. I will definitely be renting this lens to try it out.

Andrew

PS When the Sigma 150-500 HSM comes out, I would rent that one as well. Hint. Hint.

Barry. Would you be able to test the lens with the current EX 1.4x and 2x TCs to confirm whether or not the HSM continues working? Or don't you have a Pentax camera there! Requires K100D super, K200D, K10D or K20D. This would be very much appreciated by lots of board members I'm sure.

It is not at all possible that the HSM works with the Sigma teleconverters. They do not have the power contacts that the in-lens motors require.

I can't wait to hear how this performs. Actual shooters experience with this lens will be the factor in whether I pick up the sigma or the tamron. I've got my pennies saved, now i'm ready to burn it!

I picked one up tonight.

First impression, quiet from close to infinity, very fast focusing. Heavy but manageable. It will be better with a mono or tripod. Took a few photos, not bad so far. I will experiment in the next few days to test it. I have 7 days to decide.

OK, here is the first image from this lens. Taken tonight as Sun was setting with cloudy sky at 128mm F5.0 1/125.

Raw to jpg in PS3 and resized.

Ordered mine earlier in the week.

It's just been released by customs and should be in my hot little hands soon enough.

Will write a short review on IQ, AF speed, etc. soon after.

got mine yesterday. So far its been worth the wait. [or should I say Weight] Shot a couple of hours today and hand held, it gets difficult to hold steady after say 15 minutes. Very quiet focus and fast. [monopod / or tri-pod for me next time] Will post some pictures soon. JIMBO

OOOHHH AHHHHH!!! Man I have the older model and maybe time to sell for an upgrade. I have the DA300 from www.cameralensrentals.com and loving it. But, the Sigma is my favorite that I own. Look forward to seeing more shots with this lens.
