How many Pentax lenses?

Just question, how many Pentax made lenses will for onto my K10D if lets say, I wanted to buy one of every model lens ever made that would fit it?

Well there are about a hundred M42/M37. So I guess about 150 PK. Then there are 645 and 67 lenses too. Shall we say about 400 different?

All lenses produced the past 52 years. And they are not counting those that don't fit.

Funny part is that they are breaking that now. The new lenses will only work on the newest bodies. Sad but true.

Meaning the DA series?

If Pentax finally does release a FF camera,. all the other lenses will work just fine, yes?

Yes. Since they were built for fullformat film . And yes the DA series are made for newer bodies only. And shortly they will lack the screw focus aswell. And ofcourse, there is no aperture ring, meaning you need to use a camera that can set aperture or modify your spanking new lenses.

So you are telling that the k20d I just bought, with my really "final" funds, will soon mean NOTHING?

one day it may be worth $0. It will still take pictures that mean something, and everytime in between that you use it, it will mean something

to the op,

take a look at Jim King's profile, Lance may have coined the term LBA, but Jim is the LBA Master

Precisely the reason I have begun buying a small collection of Taks, besides the fact they are fantastic lenses overall.

Over 200 different Pentax K-mount lenses from memory.

Then you can add all the different third party offerings on top of that.

They are not "breaking" anything. Older lenses will continue working on newer bodies (sometimes with limitations, eg. the aperture coupling that disappeared).

Do you know of any manufacturer that garantees new lenses will still work on 20+ year old bodies ? I sure don't.

Or would you prefer the Pentax system did not evolve at all ?
