if it is not marked as "DG" then it is from a previous generation of FF lenses... replaced either by

1) Large aperture standard zoom lens provides superior performance both for Digital SLR Cameras and 35mm Film SLR Cameras. 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG MACRO - SIGMA CORPORATION

or by

2) Compact, lightweight, yet robust, large aperture zoom lens 28-70mm F2.8 EX DG - SIGMA CORPORATION

I have this lens ... it is pretty underrated ... a little soft wide-open at 70mm ... but that's about all i can fault on it.

Heavy lens though ... especially when you have a flash mounted as well. Gives the wrists a work-out.

DF is for the dual-focus (like a quick shift ring on it) ... it came out around 2003 from memory.

I have used it chasing my nieces indoors in poor lighting with flash ... produces some nice images.

Some test shots with it:

for a little over $200 you can get 24-60/2.8 EX DG new from Cameta @ Amazon... some people here are boasting that it is sharp @ 2.8 from 24 to 60... and cheaper too.

I have the non-DF version of this lens.

270USD is a bit much i think, but if you can get it for 200-225 USD don't hesitate!

It's my main lens for photojournalism. I've used it at concerts, events, for portraits, etc. and have gotten great results!

A few examples:

I have had this lens on my K100D for about a year and now on the K20D.
Consider this the best lens i have by far on the K20D - very high resolving glass that really shines on the new Pentax 14mp sensor. Admit it is a bit heavy but makes an excellent walk around lens and very good indoor portrait lens.
APC sized sensor uses the best part of this full-frame lens with no edge problems seen.
Quick-shift dual focus mode works very well. Paid AU$250 a year ago.
