A lucky escape for this Imperial White Butterfly, as I extricated it from the web after taking this shot. Tough luck for the spider though. KP + DA 55-300 PLM

Nice, Des.
But I can’t believe that you did a nice spider out of his dinner.

Yes it would have fed her family of 50 for a week. :-)

I was following the butterfly waiting for her to land so I could get a shot and she flew straight into the web. I wondered whether that was my fault so I felt obliged to help poor Jezebel in her distress.

I feel bad for the spider but you were a good Samaritan, plus, that butterfly is gorgeous.

Not so much altruistic as feeling guilty!

Right place, right time. And quick reflexes to get the shot.

(I was expecting to see evidence of a hook or line)

Thanks. Burst mode helps in those situations, as in this one as well:

I've taken a handheld shot of the moon with the PLM in March, 2020, and from a slightly different point
I included this in a "round" themed collage: Collage "Round" | Natural & Artificial | ehrwien | Flickr
