The big reason for shooting in the snow, is the light reflected up from the ground to highlight the underside of the bird. Image taken without snow , just aren't the same.

Took 55-300 for cat hunting, but without much luck With -12 most were hidden so i got some bird shots. Not the best ever, and I am not a brider so played with catching motion

And a normal one:

And sort of landscape :d

As they say this lens always punches above its weight.

Meanwhile, in Florida, no exciting changes in the weather, just the usual sunbathers!

I love the detail in the swan's neck (and face) - little water droplets on the neck - nicely done!

Not so exciting, but I think it shows the strength of this lens - the second image is 100% crop and the details are all there - I take no credit for this, all KP and 55 - 300 PLM!

A bit late, but thank you very much for the kind words! This swan was in no way shy. So I could make a couple shots.

K-3 and DA 55-300 PLM and HD DA 1.4 TC at 364mm

I was out in the shop, planing some wood when I noticed this guy on a tree nearby. So, run in the house grab the camera, try and sneak out for some images. He was very wary, but he let me have a few. -10ºC

at 400mm

Looking up @ 294mm
