I have used mine with the Tamron 1.4 TC. Needs very good light since I normally stop my PLM down to F9 if possible. Hunts a bit and it does hurt autofocus unless we are shooting very high contrast items.

Focussing: on a sunny day set at say 150mm on a K3-ii it will track an object coming straight towards the camera at approx 40mph from distant to about 100ft from camera.

Thanks! Linus is always a character and that is one of his favorite 'perches' in the house.

Here is Ralphie (also shot with the 55-300).
This fine cat portrait is agreat example of how versatile the lens is.

Today's catch

Had to whistle to get them up on Mom's back the focusing of the PLM too quiet. My old screw drive would have got them up without any further noise .

Images of the day. Tess is out of town, Tripper is injured, I'm pretty much confined to short walks and having around the yard.

That's not an excuse for not taking pictures.

K-3 and DA 55-300 PLM

Great samples Norm. One distinctive thing about this lens is the quality of the OOF rendering - much better than is to be expected from a consumer zoom. I used my old DA-L 55-300 the other day after using the PLM continuously for some months and I was more struck by the difference in rendering than resolution.

I definitely agree. The rendering of this zoom is excellent. K-1 in crop mode + DA 55-300 PLM.

That's a fine example. Here's one of mine. K-3 + DA 55-300 PLM; 300mm, 1/1250th, f8, ISO 800.

It's good enough I leave better lenses home. It takes a little more post processing, my DA*s I often use with a bit of definition, and no sharpening unless I missed focus. The PLM needs base definition more than my DA*s and it need heavier sharpening at times, but the end result is, you can't really tell. The bokeh is surprisingly good.
