Seen while on a trail run around the hilly 8km Chambers Gully circuit. KP

Long Ridge locals

And a considerably less grand landscape than the one above, taken on the same trail run at about the half way mark.

If you are posting pictures close to infinity please say what you are doing. I expect on tripod to be good but hand held? If handheld what shutter speed? Are you posting this is as good as it gets? or just that you can get this good. Tell us about your failures as well. Was this a one off or a cherry pick out of 2000? We know this lens can take great shots, what we need to know is where that stops or when skill takes over or where it just won't work.

Both of mine were hand held. With a heart rate over 150. Quick snaps during a brief stop on a trail run, so not chimped or cherry picked.
EXIF data are visible in Flickr if you click on the image.

Thanks for the answer. Have you decided if this is your polar lens yet? I am sure we are all curious.

I have been shooting hand held the last 3 years with both the 55-300 HD WR & the 55-300 PLM which I have recently bought. And more recently the last 3 months or so I have been shooting with the 1.4 X WR booster. I shoot mostly out of the window of my 4X4 and continually forget to turn the truck off. So using the window sill I am getting some mini vibes coming through especially on major cropping. See my Flickr for additional shots nature and sporting (Mostly Major Crop)etc. The limits for this lens are wide.

Alas no. I'm still going around in circles between my DA*300, my 55-300PLM and the yet-to-be-acquired DFA150-450.

Fortunately for my wallet, it is currently out of stock on the Pentax Australia website

....but I gather there's a container docking in Melbourne on 3rd August....

It will probably not be any easier if you acquire the 150-450. Each of the three is so good at what it does but each of those task is really quite different. You are going to have to take all three

Yeah, right!

Split between the K-1 II and KP, the DFA15-30, DFA28-105 and DFA150-450 make a pretty potent three lens kit. Ultra-wide to super-telephoto with no gaps and minimal overlap. Great IQ throughout and weather sealed.

I probably still need a fast fifty in the mix though....

But I digress. This thread is about the 55-300PLM

So take that one. I am not joking.

Unfortunately, no (although the WR of KP+55-300 PLM might be helpful in that scenario?). Hot tub at that KOA (near Newport, WA) doesn't open until 8:30 a.m. This picture was shot at 5:14 in the morning, at 1/10 sec., on a tripod, using PS.

For KOA hot tub with great views, nothing beats the St. Mary, Montana KOA on the eastern edge of Glacier NP.

This lens is at its best around f/8 at 300mm. But given enough separation between subject and background, the rounded blades lead to a nice soft background anyway.
