That was 10m away, so not really close.
But good point on the focus calibration, the 60-250 is a new acquisition for me and I haven't done that yet for that lens.

So here's my quick comparison test, using the KP and roughly equivalent settings(though the 55-300 was at 260 instead of 250). PLM picture is the top one.
These were both handheld, and the light was good. So maybe not a good test for darker conditions. But the PLM result looks much sharper to me. And the PLM weighs half as much, takes up half as much space, and costs half as much.
Suspect the 55-300 is pretty close to the 60-250 as long as you don't use the TC. That's my plan... shoot without the TC.

A day in the Algonquin Park with the K-3 and DA 55-300 PLM. The 18-135 was in the bg, but I never felt need to put it on the camera. 55mm is vary nice walk around focal length.

A few more. The PLM 55-300 PLM gives you an advantage over the long lens shooters because you can deke around avoiding tree branches. I left the long glass dudes in the parking lot complaining about the branches in the way. In fact I believe I detected some turned up noses. And then some shock, when I pulled out the K-1 and 300 2.8 for the Pine Marten, and they realized I was using this tiny little lens because it was my choice, not because I didn't have what they had. They were totally unimpressed with my suggestion they might do better with light portable glass. Some folks just don't understand closer is better. I guess dropping $5k on long glass doesn't help them understand that. If you can shoot from 6 feet away with no tripod, do it. Or as stated elsewhere "If you don't like your pictures, get closer."

At the moment the lens doesn't get the time it deserves - too little time, too many options ...

Guilty as charged. But I damaged my first one beyond repair and had to buy a second. Things could be worse.
