As my avatar suggests, I'm very partial to Eastern Yellow Robins. It's exciting when the chicks from our resident family emerge. Here are some from last summer.

The adults are very photogenic too.

Thanks! I've yet to fully warm up to the PLM, or should I rather say, learn how to use it (or telephoto lenses in general) to its strengths / for good results
I have to stop myself from using it as a walk around, and often go out with it on the camera and the 21 ltd in my pocket, just in case. And it's amazing how often the 21 never gets on the camera. However if i know I'm going to need wide angle, the 18-135 is still the go to lens.

I took my 55-300mm PLM to an air show last month and took almost 800 frames during the afternoon. Not only was the AF reliable but I brought home some nice shots. I was a bit apprehensive since I had not put it through its paces to that extent before. It was a trooper.

Fantastically sharp images. Makes me envious.
I use it the most next to my sigma 18-50.
As others have said beyond 250ish they tend to go soft and you are better off manually focusing it, lower f stops with it with linear objects like grass will get you some seriously cool surreal bokeh.

Recently made a trip to Mexico and used the DA 55-300 a bit. If you get a chance to visit the Vallarta Botanical Gardens it's a beautiful place and (IMO) should not be missed.

Generally happy with the 55-300 but I did find myself wishing for a bit more reach, which has me thinking about the FA 150-400 or maybe even the DA 560.
Though the biggest problem was remembering to set the shutter speed/aperture after switching from a manual lens

There were hummingbirds a plenty. I think this is a female blue-throated.
