Feel like I'm getting the hang of moving subjects in water... sometimes.

All at 300mm with the Pentax K-70.

Still uncertain about this lens... I seem to get a lot more 'nervousness' from the right-hand side at 300mm than the left... I can't be certain at this moment whether that's my cropping or the lens, but there's a definite case of the centre being in focus and nothing much else, i.e. sharpness drops off quickly away from the centre 'circle', even in the same plane of focus.

Perhaps I'm overly-critical of the lens, expecting more from a cheap(er) zoom but I'm not so sure...

A few from the recent King tide on the Oregon coast.

Oh and that tower is like 50 feet tall those rocks are a jetty top.
Wind was so bad it blew off my shroud's CP gate. Not a chance in hell I was going after it.

Some local wildlife with the PLM + KP

Short-beaked Echidna (this remarkable animal is a monotreme - that is, an egg-laying mammal)

Blotched Blue-tongued lizard

Eastern Grey Kangaroo

Swamp wallaby (the extra tail and foot belong to the joey in her pouch)

Some more Swamp Wallabies

(We think this youngster taken in March 2019 is the young mother shown above in October 2019)

Many discussions on Pentax Forums about different long lenses - especially the latest 4/70-210. It will have it's applications on FF cameras and also on APSC. Mostly I'd not need it - like my Vivitar S1 2.8-4.0/70-210 with nearly the same weight. The DA55-300PLM I even can shoot on FF and don't get too much trouble with dark image corners if stay between 135 and 260mm.

Today I was using the DA55-300PLM on the KP with DA TC1.4x. Slow but lightweight. Fastest aperture 9.5 at 420mm - no big problem. Because of the FL I had to be carefull with shooting technique and shutter speed to not get blurry images. So I raised ISO to 800 - really usable.

Three images from today ...

KP • DA TC1.4x & DA55-300PLM @420mm • ISO800 • f/9.5 • 1/250s

KP • DA TC1.4x & DA55-300PLM @420mm • ISO800 • f/9.5 • 1/400s

KP • DA TC1.4x & DA55-300PLM @420mm • ISO800 • f/9.5 • 1/160s

All captures handheld.
