with the 1.4x tc at the 364mm just before f/8 becomes f/9.5 and cropped about 14% of the top.
and a little on the sides as I changed to 4:3

What the 55-300PLM can do? You can take it with you to mountaintops. It is almost pocket-able. For us coming from film it is like science fiction to have a lightweight super-telephoto (angle of view equivalent to a 450mm on a 35mm film body) lens for the APS format. In the old days lenses with such angle of view stayed at home due to weight and size, if you could afford one at all.
