I would recommend the K28/3.5 and the FA 50/1.4.
The 28 is extremely sharp at all apertures, and makes a perfect walk around lens (42mm equivalent), and the 50 is very highly regarded, is quite sharp and produces beautiful bokeh.
And the kicker is that you can pick up both of those for less than any of the zooms you mentioned...
Something to think about.

I can also recommend the A 28/2.8, and any of the Super/SMC Takumar 28/3.5's.
While at it, any of the manual focus 50's would do well.
That is, if you want to go manual focus, you can actually get the whole 28-35-50 set for less than any other lens mentioned, and get just as good if not better results.

But I assumed no manual focus.

Do you think the Sigma would give the quality of the primes?
I have read good reviews on the Sigma 24-60/2.8 EX DG. And my copy is sharp. But I can't comment on quality versus primes. I suppose from F4 and smaller it would favorably compare. It is relatively cheap (approx USD240 new). Although the filter can kill you @ 77mm.
