Sigma 28-300 f3.5-6.3 DG SLD

Has anyone had any experience with this lens, Sigma F3.5-6.3 DG SLD Macro with internal AF on a *IstDL It's not a true macro with 1:1 or 1:2, but it will close focus. I have not had a chance to use it often enough outside make a determination of it capabilities although, it does pretty well with flash and low light. but not as good as my old Asahi M-50mm 1:2 f2.0... sure like that old lens.

I think I have it. I have a Tamron AF28-300 Ultra Zoom XR F3.5-6.3 LD Aspherical (IF) Macro. Not sure if this is the same one? I bought it so I could have a full range in a single lens, letting me have a lot of flexibility.

It does hunt in low light, but I have been able to find something to lock onto. I used it from the cheap seats at a baseball game, and got decent results. I used it in a concert hall to photograph Hootie and the Blowfish. I like it so far.

Thanks Jeff for the reply... I bought the Tamron 28-300 AF LD XR DI from KEH but they sent me a regular XR instead of the DI, for the price of a "BGN" Di... so I returned it for an exchange and KEH said there wasn't a DI available for the price I paid. So I purchased a new Sigma 28-300 AF 3.5/6.3 DG SLD Macro with IF instead, from Sigma4Less. Just curious if anyone had used one.

I have the Sigma 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DL Aspherical IF Hyperzoom, and I'm using it with the *ist DL2.

It's decent lens -- took it to Croatia last month, and I'm pretty happy with the results. It definitely needs a lot of a light, and like any zoom, it is prone to blurring from camera shake. I found that I needed to allow the camera to automatically jump to ISO 800 when it needs to in order to get proper exposure.

Nonetheless, it is a remarkably flexible lens, and the sharpness is acceptable (although not stellar) even at 300mm.
