I keep putting off finally getting a proper macro lens. Been doing some photo shoots of jewelry lately, and some flowers, and while the "macro" mode of my F 35-70 is very nice, I really should invest in a proper macro lens. I've been eyeing a lovely used F 50mm F2.8 Macro but it'll probably be gone by the time I can splurge on a new lens...

The D FA 100mm also looks wonderful but I fear it might be a bit too tight...

I really want to get a nice wide angle lens for some landscape and cityscapes so may be looking at the HD DA 15mm next.

I don't know. I want it to be a full frame lens for my K1. I have the Pentax 28-105, but I have been considering a new lens. Thinking of the Pentax 24-70 F 2.8, primarily for the 24mm end of things and the F 2.8...and for bokeh.

Or maybe the 31mm Limited F 1.8. Or maybe the new wide angle prime, Pentax will be bringing out.

I have a Pentax 12-24 that I've been more than happy with using on my ASP-C bodies. Tonight I plan to try it out at an outdoor vintage car show (weather permitting) on the K1. I understand I should use the lens from 18mm to 24mm setting and all should be fine, I have my camera set on Full Frame, not cropped. I'll see how it goes.

I'm retiring this December, and I have plans to do a lot more travel than I've done recently. And so to get ready for my next great adventure in life I want to 'top off' my lens kit before I leave work.

About a decade ago I spent a great weekend walking my butt off and shooting a Grand-Am race weekend at Mid-Ohio with my Super Program and MX. The longest lenses I had at the time were a 300/5.6 SP Tamron and an A 135/2.8. I had a great time and got a lot of great shots, but I only shot a race that one time. I've not added any long lenses since then.

Right now I have plans to shoot a couple of races up at Road America at Elkhart Lake WI next summer. This represents a bit of a change-up for me, as I mostly shoot landscapes and architecture, and so my lens kit skews heavily towards wide/normal/short telephoto primes rather than long zooms.

So, I'm waiting for a good price on a DA* 60-250/4 to add to my APS-C kit. I've also got plans to add a 70/2.4 - not necessarily for the races, but for general use.

I think my FF kit is good and have no plans to add anything soon. (And yes, I know saying that means I'm doomed...)

So...wider than 16mm but not fisheye?
New, there is the 15mm Limited, or the Venus Laowa 12mm or 15mm, or the Irix 11mm or 15mm. There is the 16mm or 14mm Samyang. Or the upcoming DA* 11-18 ultra-wide (zoom but should be high quality), although that might be a considerable wait and even more considerable outlay. There is also the DA14mm, which is not as well reviewed as the others but is fairly cheap. Plus some legacy lenses if you want to hunt.

Probably the Pentax 300mm F/4 SMC DA* ED IF SDM, if I could convince myself that it takes better pictures than the 55-300. Tough call at f8.

In fact I am wondering what are the real needs of photographers on forum in terms of lenses. And in general I mean new and modern lenses (but it is not obligatory condition). The lens may be existing one or no. I propose such scheme of answer (compressed to one line):
Camera: APS-C/FF
Type: zoom/prime
Focus: MF/AF
Focal length(or range)/Maximum Aperture:
Price (you are ready to pay for such a lens):
Other Features: (WR, AW, Focus Lock, aperture ring... whatever are Your needs)
Use: Amatour/Professional and where (landscape, events, weddings, travel, portrait, photos of my cat/feet/testing charts).

So I will start:
APS-C; zoom; AF; ~16-50/ 2.8; 1000-1200 euros; AW with solid build, no zoom creep, sharp center from 2.8, new better version of DA* 16-50/2.8; 80% of professional for events and real estate.
I really would like that newly proposed 11-18 2.8 lens. Love fast and wide!

This is what I'd love to see for a gnu lens:

Full frame prime with a focal length somewhere between 22 to 23 mm. Aperture of F2.0 or so. Essentially, the full frame equivalent of the much-beloved APS-C 15mm/4 and an new addition to the existing 'three amigos' lineup - the FA Limited 31/43/77 lenses.

Features? The 'usual suspects' for a new Pentax lens: AF and AW
Target market: professional and advanced amateur
Price: I would expect it to be priced similar to the other FA Limiteds, but I also expect the price would probably be bumped up a bit.

This would be a great landscape lens.

Camera: FF, Type: prime, Focus: AF, Focal Length/ Aperture: 135/2.8, Price: $1000-&1600US, Other Features: (WR, DFA* or Limited build), Use: Amateur (dog portraits and other random shots).

135mm is a prime focal length I'm really missing - was one of my favorites on film.

If I will go for the cheap score then the M 200mm f/4. Otherwise I'm on the lookout for Tamron 55BB 500mm which should one of the better mirror lenses.

I'm really quite interested in that DA* 11-18. I keep reminding myself how little I enjoy zoom lenses, doesn't seem to help though. Perhaps holding it, seems huge, will persuade me to abstain. Doubt it ...

Looks like some K series. May be the 50 F1.2.
