Welcome Jeff - big Fisheye Fan here .. Can't believe nobody linked to this thread https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/33549-fisheye-...ye-photos.html

That should give you a good variety of various fisheye lenses (me I am Pentax DA 10-17 fan) - Good luck

About the purple frindging effect, according to Photozone, this a common drawback in this category. Just close the aperture a little to get rid of most of it.

Anyway I can witness that 10-17 is very good value for you money.

Fringeing is still there no matter how much you stop down the aperture. This is the "feature" of this zoom.

Just watch out when the camera is pointed towards the sky in day light.

I've had more PF problem indoors (wide aperture) with flourescent lighting. It's never been a problem outdoors because you're just not going to get PF, especially at F14 like the shot below....or even F8 for that matter.

I've never had a problem as long as there is a decent amount of ambient light.
