The other option is to remove the small metal hood and use any conventional 55mm lens cap. Having said that I found the included lens cap to be just fine, it's quite snug. But that's just based on my sample size of one.
For those wondering about the size and handling of the 20-40 it is no pancake, but it is light and compact for it's specifications. Here is a pic to get a sense of relative sizes.
I also have the DA 21 SMC, DA 35 2.4 and DA 40 HD. I don't really use them that much as I don't like changing lenses frequently around the 'normal' focal range and there is no compromise in image quality using the 20-40.
The main use cases for the SMC 21 for me are low profile street photography and nightscapes (starbursts). The 35 2.4 as a light all-rounder for situations like travel where I'm not too worried about damage or loss.
The 40 HD is a harder use case for me, but it is hard to part with because the image quality is superb, better than the 21 in my opinion. The 35 2.8 I have never used.
You can't go wrong with any of them. I'm pretty sure you'll be happy with whatever you get. Just pick the ones that fit your use cases best.
