I've bought and tried many fine lenses that I've read about over the years but the one that's never gouged a hole in my credit card is the FA*24. One day.

Sigma 50-500: love the idea of the 10X zoom range, love the idea of getting to 500 mm on FF, but..... the bulk and the price have always stopped me from clicking "buy" button.

For me it would be the FA*300/2.8 and Voigtlander 125mm 2.5 ....... I am steady working on the financial war chest to maybe make it happen, someday (after all the school fees, medical insurance, gas/ electricity bills are paid for - DOH).

So far it is the DA* 16-50/2.8. First it was a great lens but too expensive new. Then reports of SDM failures started, and I thought I'd get a broken one. One never fell into my lap and I got a 16-45. Then it became possible to switch the 16-50 to screw drive. I have lost interest and bought a DA 18-135 for some of the things the 16-50 might have done. I think it was a lens that a lot of people complained about, but they sure didn't want to sell cheap either.

A lens I always eyeballed and thought would be nice to have in the kit but could never quite get there, especially after rounding out my collection of the 3 amigos with the acquisition of the 77, but I still have an urge. Then I remind myself that there's a DFA* 85 in the works, and once again don't bite on the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM.

Come to think of it, and speaking of K lenses, I've always also lusted for the K 28 3.5, but could never justify the price they are going for now, especially when the M 28 3.5 is so good (and was so much cheaper).
Why would you want a "K" lens instead of the comparable "M" lens, even if they went for the same price?

I just can't seem to justify the DA560. I want it bad, just I know I will never use it.

Back in 2010 I seriously chased after the F* 300 f4.5, partly for it's wonderfully compact size, but also to avoid the horrors of SDM with the DA* 300. However, after running across a pristine copy on ebay that sold for $1,300, I decided I was better getting a brand new DA* 300 for $200 less.

For me its the FA 20-35 !
Every time I get ready to pull the trigger one one something happens !
Car repairs , health problems , medical bills , etc......always something.
Either that or someone manages to beat me to it by a matter of minutes......always !

Not a lens but a lens part. The drop in CPL filter draw for the FA*250-600! I am never getting one of those - rarer than the lens itself

70-200 F2.8. So far have Sigma 70-300 APO and Bigma, so that covers the range, but still it is a dream.
Another would be 100mm WR. Though while I don't have it, still doubt between it and Sigma 105mm Macro (especially, as one 105mm is for sale on KEH now, for Pentax mount... but because K-30 shown the aperture, had to buy KP, and no money for the lens... again).

Anyway, these two were my dream lenses always.

Oh yeah, it has bulk and weight... camera is only an attachment to it (I got it second hand for good price)

I’m still kicking myself for not affording the Leica M2 in “shooter” condition with a Canon 35mm 1.5 LTM mounted I found locally last summer.

For Pentax, it’s been the 31mm and 77mm limited. The 77 is/was covered by my 50-135 and is a bit long on aps-c, and both are just expensive.

The K and M 28 3.5 are completely different optical designs. The K is a very, very special lens.

That's what I keep telling myself. The DA*300 has given me five years of stellar service. Sure it's a bit bigger, but the IQ is just as good, it's faster, quiet (and the SDM hasn't died), and weather sealed.

However, the FA*200 macro and the Hollywood K28 keep singing their siren song.
