It took me a long time to realise how much better the best lenses were than the rest - I was much more into composition and interest etc in the final image than into equipment, and I looked at what I could afford which covered the range I wanted - then replaced with better if I wasn't happy - but that was mainly with specialist lenses like telephotos rather than everyday ones - then I started using the 67 system for serious photography because I liked the big transparencies/negatives, and all the lenses were good anyway.(and not too expensive as used)
Which is a roundabout way of saying that there was never really a lens that I seriously craved and never got not because I got what I wanted but because I got what needed and didn't have anything like PF to give me the wanties for others. I still think that's the case - mostly - I've always instinctively favoured the improvements of larger formats in terms of IQ over better glass, but recognised when the lenses aren't good enough for what I want to achieve and then and only then replaced them. The only lenses I HAD to get were the FA Ltds, and I blame PF entirely for that.
That turned into a bit of a ramble - but I hope it explains why there is no lens that got away - if I needed it I found a way to get it, otherwise made do with what i had and concentrated more on image than equipment.
