For me it has been the DA*300. I have the DA*60-250 and a Sigma 50-500, so I'm covered in that focal range. I doubt that I would buy on now. If I were to get another lens in that range it would be the DFA 150-450.

For a while, I was really hankering for a Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 Contemporary. I feel that the lens reached a point where it is pretty much perfect for what it is now. I even know at least one photographer that was using it professionally (or semi-professionally) to do portraits at 70mm f4, it's that good in the long end.

But in the end, I couldn't justify replacing my DA 16-45mm f4...

I guess I've listed 3 lenses already, I better stop

One?!

Ok, on second thought I guess that would be the K 30/2.8. I'm not sure how much use it would see, though, squeezed between the FA 28 and FA 31...

I would really like to own every K lens made simply because they are so well made. The only two I have are the 24/2.8 and 50/1.2 so there are quite a few left out there

I want a Rokinon TSL24M-P 24mm f/3.5 (tilt shift lens), however my Sigma 10-20 does well enough most most of the time, and I no longer live near quick access to canyons of buildings, so...

Fa35/2 is one I've always been kinda interested in but have never had one. I got the 31 instead. The FA200/4 Macro is the 'one' I want, am interested in but have not had yet...

Not a lens but a lens part. The drop in CPL filter draw for the FA*250-600! I am never getting one of those - rarer than the lens itself

Yes, I've been searching and searching for one myself.

Voigtlander 58mm 1.4 SLII. I just can't justify it. I suspect its the best lens in the normal range but I have too many normal lenses that I like that aren't getting enough work as it is.

SMC Pentax FA* 200mm f4 macro. But I haven't given up yet. There were one on ebay last week for 4300 US$, which was too much for me considering it had fungus! Meanwhile I shoot with the Sigma 180mm f3.5 macro.

It took me a long time to realise how much better the best lenses were than the rest - I was much more into composition and interest etc in the final image than into equipment, and I looked at what I could afford which covered the range I wanted - then replaced with better if I wasn't happy - but that was mainly with specialist lenses like telephotos rather than everyday ones - then I started using the 67 system for serious photography because I liked the big transparencies/negatives, and all the lenses were good anyway.(and not too expensive as used)

Which is a roundabout way of saying that there was never really a lens that I seriously craved and never got not because I got what I wanted but because I got what needed and didn't have anything like PF to give me the wanties for others. I still think that's the case - mostly - I've always instinctively favoured the improvements of larger formats in terms of IQ over better glass, but recognised when the lenses aren't good enough for what I want to achieve and then and only then replaced them. The only lenses I HAD to get were the FA Ltds, and I blame PF entirely for that.

That turned into a bit of a ramble - but I hope it explains why there is no lens that got away - if I needed it I found a way to get it, otherwise made do with what i had and concentrated more on image than equipment.

That is what I use too. I call it my poor man's FA*200 macro. I know I am never getting one of those.

The FA 31 Limited. It is too close in focal length and style to my Sigma 35mm Art, which I don't use enough anyway to make me think the 31 would get enough work.
There's your problem. I have both, but rarely pack the Sigma because the Princess is *always* in the bag.
I have a spare FA31 sitting in a drawer just down the road in Adelaide if you're interested....

The Voigtlander 20/3.5 for Pentax K. Last year I saw one for an ok-ish price but didn't bite the bullet. I kept looking, bought a dirt cheap copy for Canon EF but sold it since I prefer my Pentaxes over my partner's Canon 600D. Then saw a K-version advertised for a really good price and the ad was only one day old. But it had been sold already.

The A 50/1.2.

I would like to try it at least once in my lifetime.
