This is very true. 28mm is not a focal length I ever really fell in love with, give me a 24, 31 or 35. After having the M38 3.5, I ended up with a K version in a box of lenses I purchased. I had every intention of selling it, so I put it on the K-1 to take a few test pics for the ad. Well... that lens will forever be a part of my kit now. I rank it up there near the FA 31.

I've always wanted an 85mm 4.5 to use for IR or UV photos. I always end up buying a car or something. And the price keeps going up.

There's actually a lot of them...
First I wanted the 15mm LTD, but in the end I bought the Sigma 10-20/3.5... still kinda want it (but not as strongly... I think mind control is weak because of the tin-foil hat ), but now I'd rather pick a 8-16 in place of the 10-20 :-/

One lens I've always wanted was a 70-200/2.8 (brand not relevant), but since I don't have FF, it would be a waste... crop "equivalent" would be the 50-135, but I'd like the FF one even on crop because I like the FoV range better. Now I have a DA-L 55-300 and the M 80-200/4.5 so it's not a "necessity" anymore.

Then there's the fisheye... I'd have liked to pick up the 10-17mm, but never got around to it.

The FA 31 Limited. It is too close in focal length and style to my Sigma 35mm Art, which I don't use enough anyway to make me think the 31 would get enough work.

It's selling 340USD new in Sweden. Maybe they would ship it to USA.

Forever on my wish list is the DA* 60-250 zoom. I could never pull together the funds to buy a new one and never found a good used one at a good price. Over the years of wishing and wanting for a WR, quiet focusing telephoto and zoom option I found and bought used like new DA* 200 and DA* 300 primes and a new 55-300 PLM. I still yearn for a single lens option instead of three, but the three lenses I have give me everything I want including the compactness of the PLM for travel. Someday, however, I may find the 60-250, new or used at the right price and finally get it.

The SMC Pentax-FA* 300mm F2.8 ED [IF, but it is way over my budget.

Some day maybe the SMC Pentax-FA* 300mm F4.5 ED [IF] which is a close second.

That's going to be the FA* 200 ƒ4 macro, and the A*400 2.8. I know, that's two, but they are the two lenses if someone turned up at my house and offered them to me I'd find a place for them in my display cabinet. For the most part, I have what I want. The lenses I don't have, I've considered and decided they don't meet my needs.

I just can't seem to justify the DA560.
I've sometimes hankered after this lens as well, but I've recognized that it wouldn't be a practical lens to own one. I wouldn't have time to put it to best use, and I'm not sure Pentax AF is good enough to really get the best out of the lens.

The DA 21. I spent so much time deciding between it and the DA15 with the expectation that what ever I'd decide I'd get the other next. And while I love the 15 I never did get the 21. And now the existence of the K1 makes me wary of investing in ASPC only glass even though I have no immediate plans to go full frame. Are these classic ltds going to end up as orphans?
DA21 for me as well. Instead, I have the SMC Tak 20/4.5, Zenitar 16 fisheye, and the DA16-45 - all of which are fantastic. So no need for the DA21...yet.

SMC Pentax "K" 50mm f/1.2

Hard to justify spending 300-400 euros on it, specially when I have more than 20 lenses in the 50s range (with 4 of them being f/1.4 - Pentax K, Pentax M, Super Tak and Revuenon).
But once I get a good deal, it will come.

I think it will always be the D-FA 24-70 f2.8. The D-FA 28-105 is just too good to justify buying a bigger and seemingly softer lens in that range.

D FA 15-30 takes care of the wider end, and the FA Limiteds give me shallower depth of field when I want it.

I have neither, so this is a genuine question... is the D-FA 24-70 f/2.8 proven to be softer than the D-FA 28-105 at the same aperture settings, assuming correct AF fine adjustment has been carried out, and taking into account focus shifting? This is the first I've heard of it, but it's entirely possible I've missed some threads on the topic...

On my want list is any of the Pentax 15mm. I don’t generally like wide lenses but I do like macro lenses, so what do I get instead, the laowa 15mm macro shift. I’m still in the learning phase with this one and probably will be for a long while. It takes a whole new way of thinking since I really prefer to shoot birds and bugs. I was hoping it would be a great travel lens, but I’d rather not carry one more lens

I believe this to only be true at the edges or borders. The DFA 28-105 has amazingly clean borders, even at larger apetures. I would suspect once stopped down the difference would be negligible. The DFA 28-105 completely changed my opinion on variable apeture lenses. The DFA 24-70 is going to be a superior portrait lens, especially at 70mm.
