This type of situation calls for either a zoom, or quick feet to zoom with. Or you can crop...
When I intend to take candid portraits, I always mount a zoom. when taking pictures for myself, I usually use primes. When I control the environment, be it portraits or something else, I alternate between zooms and primes.

Need, want, enjoy, these are all diffferent concepts.
I've owned the K50 F1.2 for a while, realized I did not use it, and resold it. However there are lenses that I own, don't use often, but definitely keep.
