Just a quick update.

I received the Kenko 2x DG MC7 tele converter today, and this doesn't have the contacts to power the HSM in the 70-200 so doesn't work with this lens unfortunately.

It doesn't even work in manual mode, and causes strange things to happen with the menu and program select screens, just like the Sigma APO 2x did.

So, until the revised Sigma converter is released, the only options would appear to be the Kenko 1.5x DG converter, or the aforementioned Tamron 1.4x Pz.

I took a few in flight bird shots yesterday with the 70-200 and Kenko 1.5x converter yesterday, and I was pleased with how they worked out.

Quick Note: Just tried my "Sigma AF Tele Converter X 1.4" with the 50-135 SDM. No go. Manual focus only (I didnt' try it).

I just picked up a used Kenko 1.5x Pz-Af for $100 shipped. It does appear to be in excellent condition. I figured for the amount I had nothing to loose. These things, Tamron or Kenko, are hard to find so It is worth to take a chance. I should have it next week and will report on results with my Sigma 70-200 HSM.

hi to everybody, I just want to let you know that I unfortunately bought the sigma apo 2x tc ex dg for my wounderful sigma 70-200 f2,8 hsm used together with my pentax k10d and it is not working even in the manual autofocus. The exposure times are flashing. I bought it because it was suggested whith the sigma lens when I bought it but it was not right

From what I understand only the Pz-Af type will work. It has 2 pins for SDM/HSM on the inside. If the model you purchased is not of this type that might be the reason it will not work.
