I'm waiting for the first reports of such use leading to molten lava ingress, and subsequent complaints about Pentax "AW" capability...

My response is more nuanced:

Hoya made the Q system reality, while Ricoh is just letting it wither.

Thread relevance: Ricoh didn't bring HD, let alone ABC II, to the Q lenses.
Hoya bought all the products in development at the time of purchase. They had to build something In the compact camera facilities Ricoh wrote down and plan to use for automotive and other BTB products.

IIRC Hoya also released K-01.

Several Pentax bodies were released under Hoya ownership, such as the K20D, K-7 & K-5. No idea where those cameras were
in the production cycle when Hoya took over. At the very least, Hoya kept the brand alive long enough to sell it off. We should
all be thankful Hoya saw enough value in the brand to limp it along until the sale to Ricoh. They might have simply killed off the
camera division if they saw no value.

Yes, the Hoya era was now a long time ago. Bad feelings die hard but we should probably let the Hoya era fade into history.

Let`s talk about the great coating Pentax have NOW, Hoya is past and I dont care anymore.

If Pentax have that great coating , they have a major advantage versus other lense maker including Tamron and Sigma clone lenses.

My recollection is the original SMC coating was considered wonderful at .2 percent reflection. A lot has changed since 1971.

Some part of a bull’s anatomy, perhaps? Westerners would refer to the output, rather than the appendages, though.

I’m only guessing, mind.

Indeed, who knows? Some portions are so much like an official technical report originally written in English, that I wonder if they were cut and pasted into the article. Or perhaps the Chinese to English translation was provided by a native speaker of English with a wicked sense of humour?

That is definitely true.

With all due appreciation of what Ricoh is doing for the K-mount,
their treatment of Pentax' unique Q system certainly generates bad feelings.

Bottom line: Ricoh is not all "angel", and Hoya is not all "demon".

This image quality comparsion between the Pentax DFA 24-70mm F2.8 and its Tamron 24-70 counterpart is quite telling:

Flare resistance and contrast on the Pentax are clearly much better. For quality conscious lens buyers that can make a huge difference.
