During a presentation a Tamron rep said he used the 10-24 at 14mm and up on his D8xx. I believe it was the older 10-24mm - the only one available for Pentax.

Hard to say, there is not a lot of difference. The Pentax image has less shadow detail, but that is probably due to the exposure. The Pentax image has slightly richer colors, but again it may be the difference in exposure.
