Adding "contacts" to M-series and equivalent lenses with copper tape

I used my lenses with copper tapety quite intensively during last few weeks and can give some update on this. All of them work fine and the foil stays on the lenses. Definitely useful trick for me!

So how does this work for a lens with no aperture connected to a movable lever?

Would taping the lens contacts allow P-TTL flash wide open?

I’m actually thinking of trying this with bellows... would that work? The aperture is preset, so the camera can think it’s wide open in a really dark room... the contacts would be taped on the adapter...

Good question. P-TTL with A-series lenses is less reliable due to apparent preflash at maximum intensity* and fail-over to full intensity when close, large aperture, and/or high ISO. There is no harm done in trying. You could see if having just the "A" contact taped would be adequate or if two other contacts must be made to provide equivalence to a known combination (LINK).
