do you have lenses you don't use a lot and if so, why do you keep them?

Why 2 40mms?
I have a few lenses I don't use. My sears 80-200 never gets used. I keep it because it's a 1 touch zoom. My 18-250 just in case I want the super zoom. My 50-200 for wr back up.

Oh boy. The list of lenses that i own and use is a lot smaller the thet ones that i own and dont use. The reason is i like like to own lenses, and also as a sort of investment, because most of them are bought for below average price (for example a bought the pentax 16-45 fir something like 80€).

I also like to just look at my old manual lenses, and look better than deco crap people ussualy buy and display in their houses (a crown favourite in Romania is a really ugly fish, but i am sure it is not a local thing)

I have many lenses I do not use very often, but if I sold them I would waste my money on even more use-less stuff.

I also have 2 lenses of the same focal lenght, but they are 35mm (plastic fantastic and limited) but i am not the type that sells lenses, and they are different totally: one gets used, the other not.

I've been working towards selling the gear that I don't use.
I only keep lenses that I use regularly and also a very small vintage lens collection - but it used to be much much bigger
I sell the lenses I don't use regularly to save for lenses that I actually want to use!

I wish I could be like you

That said, I do give some of my less used stuff to my daughter as she is now using my K-7

:P selling some of the stuff is hard.
Recently I've sold some of my Super-Multi-Coated Takumars...
The only one I kept from that set was the S-M-C 50 1.4, but I sold the 28, 135, and 200 S-M-C Taks.
.....and I only cried the whole drive home...

I have lenses that I use rarely, but it's because I usually get lenses for à specific purpose. For example, Helios 40 produces a beautiful swirly bokeh, but it's just too big and heavy, and swirly bokeh is not something that I want all the time. So I have lenses that I use rarely, but I don't have lenses that I don't use. (aside from those I am trying to sell)

I have a Takumar - A 28 mm f2.8 to keep forever. Its the last of my 80's gear that wasn't sold or stolen. It goes in the box In The "Vault" with my Scout Badges, Sea Cadet Stripes , Piece of Gold from 4000 foot level of Pickle Crow Gold Mine, trumpet mouth piece, City "at -a - boy" plate etc etc. Or in short what my Beneficiaries will call "what the Hell is this Stuff Box"

My rarely or less frequently used lenses are:
1. F 28mm f2.8, used infrequently but when I want a prime at that focal length it is still a valuable lens.
2. DA 70 Limited, also used infrequently but when I want a prime at that focal length it is still a very valuable lens.
3. DA* 200, also used infrequently but when I want a prime at that focal length it is still a very valuable lens.
4. M 50mm f1.7 and FA 50mm f1.7, used infrequently but when I want a fast prime at that focal length (or don't mind manual focusing for the M) still a valuable lenses.
5. DA 17-70, SDM dead, replaced by DA 16-85. I am still deciding what to do with this one. Gets no use and no love. Not worth the effort of trying to sell this one lens which has little value.

I guess I don't use all my lenses very often. But I don't sell. Selling is just... wrong

Besides, no sane togger would have just one 50mm lens, right? Right?

Ok, ok, I'm hoarder. Satisfied?
