How are the 31 and 43 FA limited on CA's compared to more modern glass like the Sigma and DA*55?

Thanks in advance
They are all pretty good even wide open. They all have pretty similar CA with the higher f stops being best. I always use Lightroom so I haven't really noticed which has been worse but I do know that the FA lenses will have a tad more IF at the same F stops as the Sigma and DA55

You are so lucky, Pentax has the FA 43 and is very good for portraits. I am talking about FF perspective.

Both are good. It all comes down to what focal length You use the most. Both have good contrast and are sharp wide open. On negatives Pentax have slow focusing speed, Sigma is big and heavy.

To the OP, the DA * 55 is a honey of a lens. I loved mine and handed it off to the big guy ie. my dad when my new DFA * 50 arrived.

The 55 is sharp has the nice glow in F1.4 scenarios as Sandy mentioned and takes simply awesome portraits. Landscapes and low light scenarios were never a problem either.

My vote is for the 55.

Thanks folks, I'll get the DA*55 and call it a day.
I'm not willing to deal with focus inaccuracy of the Sigma, plus the Pentax is cheaper, smaller and WR.

Sounds like the right call! I had my eye on the new ones for sale at Mcbains in Canada for about 410 USD shipped! I have a few 50mm lenses so really don't need one but at that kind of a deal, it was hard to resist. But I did! LBA conquered for at least a few hours that is!

Haha, I know that feeling. Pentax has some real nice offers these day, and you get lots of quality for the money.
