Now, I have to search the forum for a comparison of the FA 85 the DFA 50. Trying to figure out which toy will burn the next hole in my wallet.
I'm betting a D FA* 85/1.4 is nearing the horizon. Get the 50 now and the 85 when it comes out. That's my plan.

50's are cooler on crop anyway.

I'm waiting more for the 20mm or 35mm (I forget if a 35 is on the map).

Three issues were at play. Very low depth of field, a very dark face with bright white fur in other areas, and typical dog movement. In this case I had better luck focusing on her eye with live view. Sometimes contrast detect can be more precise.
Were you using focus peaking? I read a comment somewhere about Pentax autofocus' system being limited to f2.8... does the DOF line on focus peaking at f1.4 look thinner than at f2.8 or is it the same? I'm curious to know.

Canon and Nikon are the same - the best points like the central points are rated to f2.8, the others to f5.6

Interesting. Does that mean that focus peaking can not be more 'accurate' than f2.8 on those cameras too?

Focus peaking doesn't use the AF points at all, Dericali!

No, I used live view autofocus, single point. If I use live view manual focus, I like 16x magnified view without peaking.
