"FOCAL" was the brand used for lenses sold by K-Mart. I would not know who made it, they may have had several suppliers because I think they sold lenses for several different mounts. They sold cameras, lenses, and all sorts of gear with the Focal name, I think they even sold film under the Focal name.

Focal was the in-store brand for K-Mart - not sure who actually manufactured it however.

Would the legend KR suggest the Ricoh version of the K mount? If so care needed when mounting on Pentax cameras as well documented in the forum.

You could probably, eventually, track down the true maker of this lens. It has enough unique features ( "made in Japan", AP-KR, silver aperture button...etc) to narrow the field but it hardly seems worth the effort. This is a typical example of a 135mm ,of which a plethora existed in the time frame (likely the '80s) many using the same or similar lens formulas. The large dept stores of the era (Sears,JCPenny,K Mart etc) all sourced multiple suppliers which often changed year to year. The only way to evaluate the lens is by the shots it produces - not its factory of origin.

KR mount lenses may get stuck on PK DSLR's

Good thing I asked, I had no idea "Focal" was a brand name. Apparently they are prone to getting stuck on DSLR. Guess I could take the pin out......
