not sure if this is the right place to ask, but was there any old Pentax film lenses, especially the F and FA series which was made in China?
Many K1000's were assembled in Hong Kong or Taiwan (which is also called Republic of China, hence the made in ROC label), so it's not really unreasonable for low cost lenses of that era to have such a label.

Getting back to topic, I strongly encourage you to show us some lens porn. All that talking about this and that, but no pictures!

And once you get a hold of a K-1, please fill the review pages of those lenses with pictures taken with them.

yeah I need the answer to this. I just bought a stack of 6X7 glass...... an 800mm f4, then carried on to buy the 300mm ED IF, then 55 -100 Zoom then 165 f2.8.. I cant seem to stop ! I love them ALL!!

My wife does not know I am on this forum. She does not need to know. I am not sure how I am going to explain that biggish 800mm f4 to her, as I am guessing she will notice it.

Is there a cure for this disease ?

Yes it is. I tried, and failed, not to purchase a lens today at an antique fair. Walked away with a Vivitar (komine) Auto Telephoto 135mm f2.8 (M42 Mount) in excellent condition for $5. Did I need it??? Absolutely not. But at that price.... how could I say no.
That’s an excellent lens in its many iterations!

I have a Hasselblad Zeiss 110mm f2 that just sits here on my desk because it is so beautiful. I often pick it up and admire it now and then. Lenses are things of such beauty.

My wife thinks I am a nutter.

At least here on this forum, i am among those who understand me.

Not that this vendor had. There was another vendor who had a small bevy of old film cameras including a few Pentax bodies with lenses. Unfortunately we were on the way out, so I couldn't linger. I did notice one Takumar 55mm F1.8 but didn't have time to spend to figure out if it was any good or which version it might be. Gonna have to go back next month when the fair returns.

One good cure is to buy a camera for which one can find no lenses. For example Leica Q. Or 4000€ Fatbike. Much more useful than stupid camera gear and also gets one in good shape physically. Leica Q fits in small backpack when cycling around the wilderness. Although I would rather take some snacks instead of Leica for long runs.

Serious advice: Get a top of the class lens like Zeiss 135/2 APO. After that there is no return to coke bottle bottom lenses.

Good to hear. I'm looking forward to running it through it's paces and having fun with it. I haven't used an M42 lens in a long time, so it'll be fun getting to know the lens. And I haven't had a 135mm lens in almost thirty years, so it'll also be interesting to revisit that focal length.
