I think that was in the past when Pentax was still using a mechanical aperture lever. Now that they have Kaf 4 cameras that don't need lenses with a mechanical aperture lever I don't think it is any harder to make k mount lenses than for any other mount. The bigger issue for Sigma is that they don't sell very many Pentax mount lenses compared to other brands and so it isn't worth it to them to make them.
Fair enough. Although the same Sigma 18-35 art on Canon cameras has similar problems. Never had a problem with the 50-500 sigma on either K-3 or K-1 and it was converted from a Sigma SA mount since it didn't have OS.

A fellow on another forum removed the K mount on a K1 and put on a Nikon mount.

He wanted K1 for pixel shift, this is a specialist extreme macro forum I participate in.

Very brave, and I wondered if anyone here had done it!

Cheers
Well that is certainly possible. Adaptist had the Multi-Mount, currently sold out, that allowed Nikon, Olympus, Contax/Yashica, Konica, and M4/3 to be mounted. It did this at the cost of making the camera less than WR.

You didn't get full functionality from anything but K-mount of course. Everything else works like an M lens, but that doesn't really matter for macro other than flash automation.

If they are ever in stock again there is a mount called Adaptist that is designed to replace the K mount on a Pentax and allows mounting several different lens types including Nikon more securely than the method I mentioned.

Products - Adaptist Let them know if you are interested so they know if they should restart manufacturing.

And they didn't offer open aperture metering with most I thought - more like M42 - set on AV, control from lens with aperture lever. Right?

Well the Green Button isn't going to stop them down obviously...they would work like M42 in M mode or AV.
