Some of the Super Taks made in 1971 actually got the SMC coatings. I agree with Jsherman999 that there are differences in coatings during the course of the Super Taks as well. However, there are some other lenses in the preset and auto tak era that have some interesting optical formulae as well as collector interest. For example, I have a few smc/s-m-c for my Spot F. I have some super taks for my SV bodies and some auto taks and presets for the K, H2 and H3 bodies.

I haven't seen the lens myself). I'm wondering if I can be reliably sure this is a version 1 without the engraved model number. He's willing to sell me the lens but, as I already have a version 2 Super, I would have no need for another unless I was sure I was purchasing a version 1.
That lens was probably made in 1964 based on the serial number. That would likely make it the 1st version of the Super Tak which has the 4-5 optical formula. There's also a chance that that serial number range could also be the 3rd version of the preset Tak which was made for '63-65. However, if it is missing the model number as you say, the serial number seems too high because it is usually the earlier taks and auto-taks that don't have the number below the switch (the taks don't have a switch ). Keep us posted on what you find when you see it. Maybe Woof can shed some light on this.

Mine doesn't have the product number engraved anywhere on it.

Based on your serial number, your lens was probably built in 1961 or 62 and makes it the 1st version of the Super Tak 135mm f3.5.

I have an SMC 50mm 1.4 with the rubber focusing ring and a Super 50mm 1.4 with the metal focus ring and I noticed that I like the feel of the Super a lot more!!! But I did a little test the other day, and I think SMC produced slightly better pictures and had better PF and CA control.

I guess that would make the S-M-C taks the best of both worlds.

Yeah pretty much, I actually wanted to swap the optics in SMC to Super, but figured that would be retarded.
