I think this would be a great range for portraits, street, and landscape and assuming I do make the jump to Fullframe, would make a fantastic wide-angle, landscape lens.
Just wanting some quick feedback on overall impressions of this lens on their crop body Pentax cameras.
I can't comment on the D FA24-70 from a user's perspective, as I don't own it.
On APS-C, it will give you a cropped field of view equivalent to using a 36-105mm lens on full frame.
If the field of view works for you on APS-C, it could be a great lens, as it offers excellent optical performance. But it's big and heavy, as are all 24-70 f/2.8 auto-focus lenses.
I'm a big fan of the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 on my APS-C bodies, and use that for the purposes you mention, amongst others. It's quite small and light considering the focal length range and constant f/2.8 aperture. I also have the same lens in Sony A-mount for use on full frame bodies, but find I don't use it all that often, as the field of view on full frame makes it less useful for me.
