FA Star* 28-70mm f2.8 vs Sigma, tokina and tamron?

How good is the "old" FA Star* 28-70mm compared ti the "New" 24-28-70-75mm lenses from sigma tokina and tamron?

I love my tamron 28-75 and many people think it is comparable to the equivalent lens from any manufacturer ie canon / nikon / pentax.

but I dont have the fa* so I cant say but you dont here many complaints about it . I have seen plenty of images taken with it that are very seriously nice with beautiful colours and rendering (but of course it is top grade lens, often used by extremely good photographers, who are only posting their favourite images).

if you can (money...), FA 28-70mm f2.8 Star is the best choice.

but i think that tamron 28-75 is a good lens.

about tokina is good but no when there is the sun (flare...).

about sigma a lot of people don't like "sigma colors". i don't like.

i have a FA 28-70mm f2.8 Star*: i found a lot of info before buy it.
i bought it and i use it for 80% of my photos.
Here you can see a 28-70mm Star photo: the sun is in the photo but there are not flares, ghost images or other problems...
and i like colors.

I have owned several 28-70/2.8 lenses (e.g. Sigma EX, Tokina AT-X Pro II). The only two AF versions that survived are the FA* and the 28-80 AT-X Pro (Difference between Tokina Zooms - Canon Digital Photography Forums, Shutterbug: New Tokina ATX 28-80mm f2.8SD AF PRO). As I do not "pixelpeep" , this is mainly due to "personal feelings". In an article about "old" and "new" Pentax glass in Chasseur dī Images, the FA* has proven to be the best zoom by far in the test. However, this does not mean that you cannot take good photos with any other brand. So, I would not be concerned about other lenses, if I already owned a good version of a Tokina/SIgma/etc. .

Thanks for all the images....

The thing is that i yesterday reseived a Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 EX, havent tested it yet....

It feels okay, but seems like the AF is pretty slow, but then again i heard that the FA also is slow at AF.

Will give it a test this weekend

Seems like it does a bit frontfocus at 70mm, can i change that with the software on the K10D??
