FA 31 review

Saw this review of the limited 31, they're using a Sony camera. I liked that it does point out the unique characteristics and it's not just test chart pixel peeping

A very thoughtful review, even excepting his Sony vantage point, (focuses the wrong way....). Thanks for sharing.

Yes, very fair (and positive!) review by somebody who clearly knows what he's talking about and is aware of alternatives. That it is still good on 42Mp is encouraging.

Good review, though I was scratching my head regarding focus direction. It was stated that the direction was opposite Zeiss, Sony, Fuji and others. Historically, both Pentax and Nikon followed the Zeiss lead in focus direction. Since then, though with some variation, Zeiss focus direction generally has followed that of the mount, a tradition that continues to this day. What direction one's Otus focuses depends on what mount you are shooting. I was also puzzled by the comment regarding "catseye" bokeh highlights. The change in shape is expected, is an expression of simple geometry, and is not related to lens design per se.

Again, a very good review.

Steve

Since this very good review gets into much in the way of fine differences, I too wonder about an evaluation using an adapter to attach it to a Sony DSLR. A similar review by someone experienced with the K-1 would be an interesting alternative.
