I'm tempted to get the 31mm to compliment my 77mm for fashion portrait shots, it seems it will work quite well. I look the bokeh of 77mm in this situation.

i thought the point of this thread was portraits with non portrait lenses..

i expected to see pictures made with super wide angles, fisheyes, and 300-400mm tele's

Well, any lens that is capable of producing protraits is called a "protrait lens".

So the opening question is really just inviting protrait shots.

To me a portrait lens is anywhere between 50mm (on a crop body) and 135mm (on 35mm film). Outside of that you are non-traditional.
