300mm Perspective

Well, I broke down, caved in, collapsed, fell victim to the inner voice. Who ever you want to describe it I picked up the DA* 300 f4. I'm thankful that it is weather sealed as I've spent the past 2 weeks dribbling on and over it.

I was humming and hawing for several weeks between the 300 and the mythical 60-250. I own the 50 - 135 2.8 and felt that owning the 60 - 250 would curtail my use of the other lens. With logic only a photographer could come up with I settled on the 300mm.

I have not been disappointed. Over the past 2 weeks I've shot early mornings over a pond, soccer matches, sunsets and moon sets. Anything that I could not get close to.

Attached are some of the many shots taken recently. Anyone thinking of this lens - go for it. You will not be disappointed. Also have to mention these are as shot. No cropping or Photoshop. I'm a "shoot to print" "raised on slide film" guy.

Excellent shots Mr (?) Deakin.
Like you I use no post production techniques. Partly because I haven't learned them, but more importantly I'm also a shoot to print kinda guy.
To me the real art is to be able to see the shot in your mind's eye, adjust your camera accordingly, and get the shot.
Luckily digital gives us instant results, and we can re-adjust as required.
