The DA version is a regular teleconverter. It won’t enable autofocus on a manual focus lens. Only the 1.7 F teleconverter does that.

Is the DA good?
It's the best currently available for Pentax. You can read about its operation and performance here:
Pentax-DA 1.4x AW AF Rear Converter Review - Introduction | PentaxForums.com Reviews

It's a traditional teleconverter and supports whatever AF was originally supported by the lens. It is not an AF adapter.

I was wondering, how does the DA version works?
Pentax HD 1.4 is not a FF (DA does not exist).
There is also Tamron F 1.4 it is FF, I like it but it is available on used market only.

Just as an observation, this is a ton of money to get teleconverted autofocus on a non AF. On a good day, I could find an FA43 for this much.

But I believe it is a long-term investment!

The 1.7 seems best suited for wildlife telephoto. Convert a 300/2.8 lens to 510/4.8.
