Hanimex 300mm

Hello all

Recently picked up a Hanimex 300mm f/6.3 mirror lens with a 47mm H-mount on shopgoodwill. Needless to say, Google has no info on this lens, only a couple showing on the auction sites for what seems to be outrageous prices ($200-$400). Couple questions:

Anybody have any background on this lens? I know Hanimex was a rebrander so could be anything.

It's tempting to assume the 47mm H-mount implies a relationship with the Tokina 47mm but I think that might be too big a leap. Does anyone know if the H-mount is truly Tokina?

Anybody know the date range of the H-mount? Looking to get a rough age of the lens.

Thanks for your help.

Please be sure to add it to the lens DB!

By 47mm mount I assume you mean the "faux" t-mount that has a 47mm thread to mount the camera mount ring (= t-ring) rather than a 42mm thread. (pic here). For me that mount is definitively tokina - it's only seen on Tokyo koki and rebranded tokyo koki (=tokina) lenses from the 1960's.

In that case that's an interesting, even historic, and I would guess rare early tokina made mirror from that era.

There's a thread on mflenses discussing mainly the later Chinon/ohnar/makinon mirrors.
Your lens is listed on M42lens.com .

Exactly, it looks like the short lived Tokina screw mount. I agree the common thread size implies it's a Tokina but there is almost no info online on the H-mount so I hesitate to say that it's definitely Tokina.

I did find out there were at least 5 adapters: M42, Nikon, Minolta, Exacta/Topcon & Leica L39. Mine came without an adapter so I cobbled together one for the K-mount.

Thanks for the links. I did see the M42 end page during my Googling and that is the same lens.

The only other 300mm f/6.3 I've found is also a Tokina but for the M4/3 system so it looks to be unrelated.
Thanks, Robert
