Not necessarily only MTF, but an objective test would also be needed.

Take a chart picture and a software to analyze it so that some parameters can be compared.

Otherwise there will be only subjective comparisons of viewers.

Nothing wrong with a subjective view.

But from my subjective viewpoint id is a question very much of "horses for courses". Maybe the question should be which is the best 50/55 mm Pentax lens on "x" type body for "y" purpose.

Hey pentaxians,
I finally finished my collection of All 50\55mm Film era K-Mount prime lenses. (no macros = These I will test later themselves).

So now I am open for ideas of testing and comparison of These lenses..

After that I will test them and report some reviews.

Actually my Favorite is the A 50 f1. 2, but lets See IF this lens is the Best one.

Here are some pics.

Greetings,
Milka
You forgot one.

+ 1 to the "Special Lady” (Pentax-A 50mm F1.2), I've owned all the other A series 50s and apart from the “Femme Fatale” (Pentax-A 50mm F2.8 Macro), she's the only one kept on in the Harem.

Thanks for that link... so if I've read it right... to achieve maximum possible best ist ever, from my "Special Lady” (Pentax-A 50mm F1.2), I should run her at F11.0 right.

It's strange how nice that lens is to look at. Didn't know about an f1.2 50mm Special.

"Best" is so subjective. At this point, for my film camera, I think the M 50 1.7, M 50 4 Macro, and Ricoh 55 f1.2 all seem like "the best" k-mount 50 to 55mm lenses I could own. I have one of those coming and don't own the other two so what do I know...

@kerrowdawn: my A50f1.2 Has its sweet spot @f11

---------- Post added 09-19-18 at 12:55 PM ----------

What I want is to have objective parameters to compare. Like a index of Each lens.

@kim coxon: I think the A50f1.2 special Has the same lens specifications as the non special.

I Do Not own the Lx 2000, yet

I did a rough test of my 1.4s including comparing bokeh. It was depressing how similar they were. The only noticeable low flyer was my highly yellowed sup tak 7 element and yet it is one of my favourites.
EDIT correction -1.4s and 1.7s

I have thought it would be good if there was a rough and ready test that everyone can replicate with their lenses. The best test target I could think of that would be suitable and international was the old Takumar lens cap. Anyone silly enough to do this stuff would have some!!. Place them at 50x the focal length of the lens and you have a standard magnification between like the 40mm , 50mm and 55mm.
The poor old much maligned Takumar Bayonet group. - PentaxForums.com
The idea of having three staggered as in the attached thread was to demonstrate that you had indeed hit focus. A crop then showing the three caps is pasted onto a page along with the others you have put up. A matching target in the outer edge of the view would be great but is harder to setup. Here I just found some suitable shrubbery and compared that (last page of the thread).

I'll need to give that a whirl, normally she's wide open, on odd occasions F5.6 or F8.0

But never on F11.0, I wonder if I'll actually see a difference in the image quality... probably not is the truthful answer I fear.

Yes it does. But then again the 50/1.4M has the same optical specification as the 50/1.4A, 50/1.4F and 50/1.4FA. Same can be said of the 1.7's and the F2's
