I recently got a Super Tak 55mm f/2. However, the nameplate reads 1:2/5 instead of 1:2/55. I took closeup photos, but the bare background appears unblemished with no sign of paint being removed. Would this have been an error in production?

looks like it. It reminds me of some K1000 s that read K100

From the looks of it , I would say that is a definite Factory error. Quite interesting.

Unless the auction just ended ….Goodwill auctions has/had one of the K100's right now up for grabs.... IIRC
Went back and checked.....its listed as a K100 , but really just a normal K1000.

It wouldn't surprise me if the rings were hand etched, using a stencil rig of course, and someone dropped a letter.
