As many others before I very much like the Performance and handling of the old Manual Tamron adaptall-lenses - esp. the SP series.
My fav is (not a wonder at all) the 90 mm macro: the old full Metall Version as well as the latest 2.8/90 which is very sharp even at f 2.8.
I loved the build quality of the Manual Tokina AT-X lenses - the new AF-versions are optically better but different in feel and touch.
I sold them because they didn't fit to the Ds and the old 2.6-2.8/28-70 couldn't hold with the new AF-lenses from Pentax.
I regarded theTamron and Tokina lenses much higher than the Sigma in the 80's - but with one exception:
Sigma 3.5-4.5/70-210 APO
A true APO lens with very good focussing ring!
It outperformed the Pentax A 4/70-210 and Pentax AF 4-5.6/70-210 on dslr.
I found it to be better than many if not most of the modern 70-300 lenses.
Special rendering and colour too!
I simply love this lens.
I had the superb Zeiss Planar 1.4/50 ZK for quite a while: a superb lens - even better than the Pentax K 1.2/50!
But focussing at 1.4 is too difficult for me in the meantime....
