LBA again: Found this M 28mm 1:2...is it a common lens?

Hello dear pentaxian,

It was there, in a photo shop, facing a shelf full of second hand lenses...

Something from Pentax almost alone, listed for about 180$...

Seems expensive for a SMC Pentax-M

I say to myself: my wife will kill me (again).

I test it. In excellent state, seems sharp for what it is...I'm resisting...

Say to the vendor that I'm interested...

Lot of people there (some Nikon demonstration)...

So more time to look carefully at the optic...

AAAAAAARRRRRGHHHH, seems to have a very little dot of fungus...Too bad... going to say goodbye...

The vendor ask me why I changed my mind. I show him the problem (was really not aware of this).

He says that he could lower the price...

Still resisting...(for now)...

OK?

120$ ...

LBA is too strong..

Take the lens with me...

Go back home (with a lot of shame, guilt and so on)...

Dismount the back of the lens...

Clean the rear optic group...

It is a dot of grease! Easy cleaned (and blades too).

I am just a victim... No more LBA, please.

Here is the lens:

The first step to dealing with this and rectifying the situation is to relinquish the lens. By keeping it, you are going to further the dopamine release that makes this so much fun. Obviously, to be sure you follow through on this, you must send me the lens. Send me a PM, and I'll give you my info.

AIn't LBA grand? Always fun to snag something like this, and the story makes it even better. Enjoy!

You got that for a good price. They don't come up for sale that often. Probably the best of the M-series 28mm lenses.

Whaaaaaat? It is another symptom of LBA? We do really have to use them and take pictures?

That was a good find. They don’t show up for sale very often. (Some of us justify LBA by posting a few shots with newly acquired lenses. That way we have proof for the spouse that it was needed)

That was a great little lens. Sold mine some years ago but it was one of my favorites. Good find!

Looks like one hell of a deal to me. I don’t think it was LBA. I think it was smart shopping. :-)

I completely agree. My wife is an ER nurse, so she works hard also. She has her crafts she does which helps her relax. When she was starting with it, she was concerned about the money spent on various things. I sat her down and explained LBA and the concept that as long as the bills are paid each month, there’s nothing wrong with spending some of the hard earned money on things we enjoy. That’s part of why we work the way we do.

It's a steal for sure, congratulations! I have the 3.5 and like it a lot, some say that the 2.8 is slightly softer, but the 2.0... man... for 120$! XD

A M 28/2 for $180? Lower the price to $120? Why can't I ever find a deal like that?

That’s a really good deal for that lens. I paid KEH $350 for an M28/2 in 2012 or so. Sold it here for $265 earlier this summer. Lasted about a day.
