24-70 alternative lens for K1

I’m looking to see what others can recommend regarding an alternative to the DFA24-70 for the K1. Id love to get one, but can’t afford it just yet. I already have noted the 28-105 kit lens, I’m looking for a lens by Pentax, or any other brand, that would be great for, in order of importance, Photojourno/Street/Landscape. Cheers...

no comments other than suggestions to consider

Pentax F 24-50mm
Pentax FA 24-90mm
Pentax FA 20-35mm
Pentax FA* 28-70mm 2.8 (real possibility)

Tokina 28-70mm f2.8 (pro vI or vII) (cheaper real possibility)

Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 EX

Thoughts?

If you are really on a budget, the DA35 + DA50 can deliver for 200$ or so. Hard to have cheaper. I also managed to get a FA* 24 for 120€, but that's going to be harder to find.

You say you have noted the 28-105mm kit lens. What were you conclusions?

It isn't limited in image quality to what used to be called a "kit lens". It is very good indeed across the frame and at all settings. Often it is the only lens I use all day on my K-1-series, and I read of others who think the same.

The 28-105 is more than a kit lens, by all accuonts it's equivalent to the DA 16-85mm, so a high-quality medium-aperture zoom. If you don't need the F2.8, it seems like a no-brainer.

Thanks, plenty to research there for sure, I have read about the 24-90 being nice.
Cheers

Yes I’ve done a lot of research on it, and I totally agree. I’m just very interested in looking at other options, I know I’m driving a hard bargain but the 2.8 of the 24-70 would be nice, but too much to ask, I know

Also, although there are many which would not be suitable, I have read that quite a few legacy lenses are much more than good enough. Any experience or suggestions in that direction.

I have used dfa 24-70, dfa 28-105 and Tamron 28-75mm.
I have experience all lenses, if you have a tight budget go for 28-105mm u r not gonna be disappointed, it s sharp, fast af, it covers full frame. It s not big difference between 24-70 and 28-105,just 24-70 better in low light that's all.

The DFA 28-105 is very hard to beat if it is in your price range. There are also some older film era 28-105's available some better than others. And there is the FA 24-90 which covers a slightly larger range than the DFA 24-70. It is dramatically smaller but slower of course. I have one for sale in the marketplace, if you are interested PM me.

I can definitely attest to the FA 24-90mm and 20-35mm working well on Pentax 5iis and K-3ii.
Pricing and availability for the FA 20-35mm F4 is another story though .....

Tamron 24-135 - I think it's better than that latest review...
