I'm sure you will love it even more over time. The focus collar should not move on its own during AF if the lens's AF/MF switch is on AF. This allows you to grab the whole lens body to hold it. The thumb usually will fall next to the AF/MF switch, making quick-shift somewhat unnecessary. One beautiful feature of this lens is nothing moves, nor is the physical length altered during focusing or during zooming! Yet it is very compact for such a fast tele zoom, and vey well built. Imaging quality is superb. I'd much prefer this lens on a fine APS-C body like the KP than dealing with the far greater weight of a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens on a FF body.

It has found a home for me carried in its belt case in partnership with my KP and DA 20-40mm f/2.8-4, or my Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8. These ensembles are especially useful for low light situations, or when especially high quality imaging is desired.
